2020-2024 strategy published
We have published our new strategy for 2020-2024. It outlines our vision, ambitions and objectives as an organisation for the upcoming years.
Our ambitions include providing the best care, the right information and shaping the future of fertility treatment.
Sally Cheshire, Chair of the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority, said:
“Patients have long been at the heart of what we do, and our new four-year strategy will continue to focus on improving fertility services for the benefit of patients and their partners.
“Starting in the same year as the HFEA’s 30th anniversary, our strategy sets out an ambitious programme of work to deliver the highest standards and the very best clinical care and emotional support for all fertility patients, together with initiatives to further improve leadership, responsible innovation and compliance in licensed fertility clinics.
“With 30 years of experience regulating fertility treatment in the UK and setting standards to which other countries aspire, we want to be at the forefront of shaping the future of fertility treatment and regulation, recognising the changing nature of society and family structures, including the ethical and scientific concerns patients and the wider public may have about new treatments.
“As science and society advance it’s crucial that we play an active part in shaping the UK’s response to future changes in the sector, to ensure that the translation from innovative treatment to everyday care is safe and effective in helping patients to achieve their dreams of having a family.
“Our new strategy will build on the key themes of our previous work, providing patients, partners, donors and donor-conceived people with high quality evidence-based care and information, while preparing carefully for any future changes in law, science and society.”
