HFEA Chair opens new Manchester fertility suite
This week, HFEA Chair Sally Cheshire and Chief Inspector Debra Bloor opened the new fertility treatment suite at St Mary’s Reproductive Medicine Department.
Part of the Central Manchester University Hospital Trust, St Mary’s has been revamped to increase its treatment capacity by 60% in preparation for the introduction of a new fee-paying service later this year.
Sally welcomed the chance to meet St Mary’s staff and see for herself the see new facilities:
"At the HFEA we want everyone affected by assisted reproduction to get the best possible care, and the opening of these new facilities at Saint Mary's supports the significant improvements the centre has made in recent years in treating and caring for its patients.
"It was a pleasure meeting Saint Mary's staff, touring the new centre, and hearing about the unit's plans to offer an improved and expanded service to patients and families across Manchester and the North West region."
